About
Me

Hi, I'm Tara

I am a passionate mindfulness/heartfulness Teacher with over 20 years of yoga and meditation experience,  rooted in both Eastern contemplative traditions and Western understanding. I am certified by the UK Mindfulness in Schools Project to teach mindfulness to children of 7-18 years of age. I am a graduate of Berkeley’s two-year Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program and have a diploma in counselling skills.

I lived for many years in Asia, working and living with religious communities, conserving both the natural environment and cultural heritage. This experience paved the way for further work with street children in Egypt which then segued into education and wellbeing work.  I moved to live full time in the English countryside with my family in 2013.  I knew that nature was, and would, be my greatest healer and teacher. Nature, the rivers, the lakes, the animals, the cold water that I swim in and the deciduous forest that I walk and bathe in led me deeper into where I needed to go to learn about myself and what I am here to do.  My path has been guided by humans too, by beloved teachers -including Tara Brach, Jack Kornfield, Thich Nhat Hanh, Rudolf Steiner, Sharon Salzberg, Leela Sarti, and Ram Dass, and continues to be shaped by nature, motherhood, contemplation and community.

Mindfulness is not a technique to perfect, but a way of life; it is a lifelong relationship with presence and compassion. The Chinese character for "mindfulness" translates as 'heartfulness', a kind, loving awareness that holds the movements of the mind and body with tenderness and curiosity. Another way of understanding this is with the word chitta, or heart-mind.

In a world that often asks us to push, fix, or strive, I offer a space to soften, to return and to step into what truly is. My teaching style is poetic, grounded, and spacious. Whether I’m with children, adults, schools or retreat groups, I invite a gentle and embodied awareness that guides you back to the body, acknowledging the untrained nature of the puppy mind, to the true, somatic experience of yourself.

I live surrounded by fields, feathers, and family. I’m a mother, a storyteller and someone who believes that healing happens not through doing more, but by turning gently towards what is here with an open heart—one breath, one moment at a time.  It helps to have someone alongside you to guide this process as you learn to build presence within yourself and it is here that I can support you.
